The is our house on 287 Logan Avenue, near Miles Avenue,
only a couple of blocks away from our house on Lawton Ave.

The 2-family house in the middle is 2982 Lawton Avenue,
where my family lived for many years beginning in the
late '30's. It is situated between Hollywood Avenue
and Throggs Neck Blvd. Similiar houses lined Lawton
Avenue hill, famous for sledding, or sleigh riding,
as we called it. Soon as the snowflakes started to fall
everyone in the vicinity, both young and old, crowded on
top of this one block long hill to go sledding (Taken 1968)
Bronx Beach and Pool, Pennyfield Ave. Throggs Neck
Bronx Beach and Pool, Pennyfield Ave. Throggs Neck
was the only pool in Throggs Neck. It had a large
pool, boardwalk, picnic area, surf and sand. Special
buses transported people from many areas of the
city to Bronx Beach. We were fortunate to live
within walking distance(Taken 1968)

The store franchised the name Pintchick Paints, a
company that started on Bergen and Flatbush in
Brooklyn and expanded throughout the city. Only the
original store is left in Brooklyn as all others were
sold, taken over by others or closed. We operated
as Pintchik till 1974, then Galaxy Wallcoats for
a while before selling to a Greek Painting contractor
and it became Christy Paint and Supply.
